Think Tank Photo camera cases

I was looking for a reasonably compact camera case to take my Olympus E-510 camera with the 70-300 zoom lens plus lens hood attached. I was having trouble finding anything suitable as the Lowepro Topload cases were out of stock at most places. I then found the Think Tank Photo equivalents which looked very interesting, with some great features.

The company was set up and is run by ex-Lowepro designers and they seem to have come up with some great, useful features on the products. I have ordered the Digital Holster 20, which I hope will take the camera, lens and hood and, hopefully, have room for the 14-42 zoom at the bottom, separated by a divider. The case has a facility to expand or reduce its vertical size, which is useful. It also comes with a rain cover, like the Lowepro AW products.

I ordered it from Morris Photo yesterday at a very reasonable price and it should be arriving today. I hope it's as good as it sounds and I will report further when I have tried it out.

Has anyone else had experience of products by this company?

Well, it's arrived, less than 24 hours after ordering and all I can say is – what a fantastic piece of kit.

The materials all look superb and it is really well constructed. The zips are YKK, the fittings are metal and the strap has a wide pad with a non-slip surface underneath. There is a belt loop at the back, although the case looks a bit big for carrying that way. There is a zipped pocket on the outside for memory and batteries and a clear pocket inside for odds and ends.

It takes the camera with the zoom lens attached and reversed hood with the other lens beneath the divider. Alternatively it takes the camera, zoom and lens hood extended without the other lens. Or I can leave the smaller lens at home and shorten the bag.

It even has a clear business card holder on the lid in case I need to identify myself at a Paris Hilton photoshoot or, more likely, leave it in a hide at Minsmere.

Full marks to the service from Morris Photo. i will give a further report after I have used it for a while.

Thanks for your report Ron. I've been looking at the TT products especially the Digital Holster line. I'll await your next report before I commit to buy one. John
