Frankly Brian, I think we have a higher standard of images here on BF, certainly with the bird photos I saw, I didn't look through every single gallery though.
Oh I've just noticed your question mark, I'm guessing this means you agree with me?
I looked in the "John Fast" gallery and the pictures looked pretty good to me. The larger versions aren't particularly sharp, but perhaps he has degraded the quality some because he wants to sell prints - i.e. to prevent people from taking them and upsizing (although it probably wouldn't work very well anyway, even if they were sharp).
