I have a nikon d80 one of my lenses is a sigma 35mm (170-500mm) lens I have had some photo's from it but i also have quite a lot where the photo's don't appear to be sharp and there is no detail. (especially at 500mm).
I was thinking about buying a sigma 80-400mm lens or a nikon 80-400mm lens. Does anyone have any ideas which i should go for and even if i should go for something else instead.
Thanks for your time.

You may also want to consider and compare the Tamron 200-500 as well. Sharp as a tack throughout the range if, like all supertelephotos, it is used properly. All for about $500.00 US less than the Nikon 80-400 VR.
Hello there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum ![]()
I have the Tamron 200-500 and although it's a handful for me, when on the tripod it takes some outstanding shots. Well, outstanding for me
