My first months with dslr..

It seems that dslr is now the next Big thing in hobby bird photography. Fyi:
Last June I switched from digiscoping to Canon dslr (10D, 300/4 IS USM, Canon 1.4 TC). My switch story and of course pictures you can look at:

I am about to replace my ageing telescope, and was wondering whether to take up digiscoping. Your web site has been really helpful to me in clarifying some of the issues.


It seems obvious that as more and more birders take the odd digiscope shot, specialists will emerge. They will need much better equipment and will take better shots.

Personally, I'm happy to grab the occassional snap but remain first and foremost a bird watcher rather than a photographer.

That said, I'm still thinking of going for a DSLR for my non-birding photographic needs. Just waiting for the price to fall a little.
