Hi guys, I am saving up for the Sigma 500mm f4.5 for my 40D & what I want to know Is, If I get a 1.4x teleconverter for It will I still have auto-focus & will It then be f5.6, If I will get to keep AF which TC would be the best one...

When you put a 1.4x tc on this lens it becomes f6.3 so the camera will not AF. When I was using the Sigma I used a Kenko 1.4x with pins taped and found that it AF'ed very well. It's a very capable lens, I'm sure you'll enjoy using it.
