In the future, I am considering buying a 'big' lens.
I was initially thinking of the Sigma 500mm f4.5, but I would like to know if it would be worth considering the Sigma 300mm f2.8 with a 2x converter, turning it into a 600mm f5.6, still retaining AF.
If anyone could give me some expert guidance with this, it will be much appreciated.
I was having the same dilema. Decided on the 500mm as 2x converters will probably lose image quality. And, i have a 1.4x converter so I can get 700mm. Admittedly there is a cost difference, but I managed to get a nearly new, absolutely mint 500mm secondhand, with over a grand saving.
Personally, if i was seriously thinking of the 300mm, I'd go for the more versatile 120mm-300mm leans.
Thank you rezMole.
I am leaning towards the 500mm, was just curious.
