Best buy available?

Ive been digi-scoping for a while now, but realising the limitations through many lost moments, ive decided to upgrade to a camera/lens.

Ive opted for either the EOS 300D or 350D.

Both seem relatively well priced new, and i think im able to knock that further down by buying second hand, but from where?

As for the Lens, what would you recommend?

And what other add ons will i need?

Hi, and welcome to Birdforum

The 2 cameras you mention are both old models so you'd be looking on the secondhand market. I used to have a 300d and can honestly say that the 350d is miles better. I'm struggling to think of a reason to buy the 300d unless it was in mint condition and ridiculously cheap
If you want a 350d I think postcardCV has one for sale in the classified section at the moment at a very good price. http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=89172

As for lenses, without some idea of budget its impossible to make a suggestion. However if you can us an idea then there is pretty well something suitable in every price range.

All the best

Paul

Hi WiseOwl and welcome to BirdForum

I agree with Paul about the 300D, for bird photography I'd definitely steer clear of it. I used one and then upgraded to a 350D which is much better, it's a faster camera which can be vital in getting a shot. For a bit more you could get a 400D, the larger screen and bigger buffer make it a bit better than the 350D.

As Paul said an idea of budget would be vital before anyone can recommend a lens.
