Never owned a digi camera, yet! But require advice on buying the right one for my needs. I have a budget of about £180. It will mostly be used for landscape shots, so I don't have to buy in when I submit articles.
I would also like it to have a decent macro setting, and be able to take wildlife shots.
Would I need a tele converter?
I've searched through umpteen sites looking for what I think I need, but it's a minefield!
One I did look at was the Samsung S800 or was it the S850 it cost about £120 - £150.
Your the experts, not me.
Any help will be kindly appreciated.
Regards
For good landscapes you really need a wide angle lens, at 28 mm but 24 would be better. You nature requirement requires the lens to be quite long (at least 10x zoom ) so you are almost talking about two different cameras here. If the one camera has to do both jobs, make the list much shorter by looking through http://www.dpreview.com/ for zooms that start at 28mm. A good place to start is the Panasonics.
Fujifilm also makes several superzoom cameras that start at 28mm (e.g. S9100). A camera like this might be a good compromise for both landscape and wildlife, although, as Neil points out, 2 cameras might serve the 2 completely opposite functions better.
